Pilgrim’s Moy Park Generates Renewable Electricity

Since 2017, Pilgrim’s Moy Park has worked with anaerobic digester and biogas partners to supply one of the first Renewable Energy Power Stations in the world fueled solely by poultry litter.

By combining conventional anaerobic digestion with nitrogen-stripping technology, the plant generates 3 MW of renewable electricity/year from 40,000 tonnes of Moy Park’s locally-sourced manure. The plant produces enough sustainable energy to power the equivalent of 4,000 homes, diversifying Northern Ireland’s fuel mix and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels – as well as the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
