Marshalltown, IA, Pork Production Facility
The JBS USA Marshalltown team went above and beyond in the fall of 2018 to showcase its appreciation for its community and workforce at the town’s annual fall parade, Oktemberfest. Well over 50 team members attended, and many others put in countless hours to create the parade’s voted “Best Commercial Float.” Furthermore, the facility donated more than 3,500 pounds of consumer value-added product and hundreds of pound of candy for the event, and its hiring team distributed company swag and more than 400 fact sheets with information on joining the JBS USA team.
We received great feedback from the community on our participation in the parade. One particular response that stood out to team members was a phone call from a community citizen thanking the facility for the donated pork because it was her first non-cereal meal in the last five days. She wept in appreciation. Oktemberfest’s theme in 2018 was “#MarshalltownStrong”, in recognition of the EF-3 tornado that ripped through the community a few months prior. Community events like the parade continue to demonstrate Marshalltown’s unwavering perseverance through this tragedy. Our Marshalltown team was grateful to have participated in this community event, and that it was noticed by those we wanted to embrace – our people.
