In 2020, JBS USA Beef brand Imperial American Wagyu Beef was introduced at more than 30 Costco stores in select markets along the West Coast, with plans for further expansion.
“We want to continue growing our branded Wagyu program in more Costco depots, as we slowly balance adding more Wagyu cattle to process,” said Lisa Scebbi, Regional Beef Marketing Director. Costco merchandises both whole muscle and ground beef to maximize program utilization.
The cattle qualifying for the Imperial American Wagyu Beef program are processed at the JBS USA Regional Beef plant in Omaha, Neb., while the ground beef is produced at the Tolleson, Ariz., facility.
JBS USA acquired the Imperial American Wagyu Beef brand in April 2019, and since then, beef marketing and sales teams have been working to expand the product distribution following customer demand growth and consumer trends.
