Building Meaningful Relationships and Getting Results

Meiling Sicard, a Fabrication Supervisor at our Souderton beef production facility, is one of the many JBS USA team members who displays the qualities needed to generate results and have a positive impact on plant operations. Joining the company in 2000, Sicard worked her way up through the ranks from an hourly role to her current position – always eager to learn more at every step. Her supervisor and colleagues attribute Sicard’s humility and engaging personality as the reason she’s able to win over and gain the respect of her team members. The lengths she goes to show her appreciation for others is well known and leads to the development of meaningful relationships, trust and a positive work environment that pays back.

The impacts from Sicard’s attitude have extended far beyond that of her team to the entire Souderton facility. In 2018, she identified that the team members responsible for trimming product often had to over extend themselves when pulling product from the table due to their scattered locations across the fabrication floor. In an effort to avoid unnecessary team member aches and pains, all trimmers were re-located next to de-boners and product separators, and the overhead conveyors above them were extended closer for easy product placement after trimming. Doing so eliminated over exertion and injuries, and increased team members’ morale. The solution was a simple fix that not only prevents injuries and accidents, but makes team members more comfortable and happy doing their jobs.
